Selling or letting a property during Covid-19

News at Cameron King | 05/10/2020

On 13 May, the Government announced that it will be easing restrictions for the property market, opening the door for those wishing to move home if they want. But what does the green light mean to you and how can you protect your family from transmission?

The safety and wellbeing of everyone involved is the priority and as such, you and your agents will need to adjust.  Below is a summary of the guidance on how to sell or let your home safely.

Valuations

You can put your home on the market and start to look for properties you want to move to.  However, choosing the right forward-thinking agent is a must.  Cameron King have introduced virtual valuations whereby we can advise you on the sale price, how to market during Covid-19 and what the best approach is.  We will visit the property to take photos and a virtual video tour but would ask that you are not present and we will ensure that public health guidelines are adhered to.

Viewings

As of 29 June, socially distanced viewings following government guidelines can take place.  Owe will do the following to keep you and our team safe are:

  • Viewings must only take place with serious buyers or reneters who are genuinely interested in the property.
  • Initial viewings should be done online as virtual viewings.
  • When conducting physical viewings, they should be done by appointment only and open houses are not permitted.
  • If your home is being viewed, open all windows and doors prior to the viewing taking place and if possible, leave the property for the duration of the viewing.
  • Everyone involved must wash their hands prior to the viewing and handwashing facilities should be made available with separate paper towels if possible.
  • We will request that children do not attend and will restrict the number of people present at the viewing in order to follow social distancing guidelines.
  • Once the viewing has finished, the homeowner should ensure surfaces such as door handles are cleaned.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be worn at all times and by all parties

Offers

Offers continue to be made and accepted on properties, many of which were already on the market and conveyancers are carrying out desk-based valuations and searches using local authority online systems wherever possible.

Whilst the above will require adjustments for all, it does mean that we can continue to support you move, safely and successfully.  To find out more or to book your valuation with Slough’s favourite agent call David at Cameron King on 01628 667442 or email david@cameronking.co.uk.
